Therefore, the defendants appealed the award of punitive damages, stating that, since New York precluded such an award. From a 0.6% decline in 1998, GDP expanded by 2.4% in 1999, and 4.4% in 2000, but slowed to 3.2% in 2001 in the context of a global economic slowdown, an export slump, and political and security concerns. Average GDP growth accelerated to about 5% between 2002 and 2006 reflecting the continued resilience of the utility sector, and improved exports and agricultural output This kind of s ituation gave us enough grounds to consider that this country has the money and resources to purchase such goods. In shape to further determine that the market has enough resources to shell out and to be able to determine that the product would be a hit for this country, using Hofstedes phoebe bird Dimensions of Culture as a parameter is a good pendulum to analyze the capability of this country in a cultural perspective as good as comparing it to US are important factors to be analyzed.International Marketing 3The first thing that we should consider is the Power distance forefinger (PDI) of the Philippines. Incarceration Type and Family Intervention as Determinants of Essay
Incarceration Type and Family Intervention as Determinants of Recidivism in Juvenile Delinquency - Essay ExampleThe lay on the line of facing harsher punishment through possible incarceration in enceinte prisons blossomed as a way to deter news from engaging in violent crimes. Supporters of new incarceration in adult prisons therefore rely on its supposed deterrent value.Despite the growing concern about new-fangled emphasis, many opponents of the original system have continually pointed out that the risks involved in imposing adult penalties to juvenile offenders far outweigh the presumed benefits. Convicted juveniles are placed in adult correctional centers in the hope that the harsher environment would better rehabilitate them. The opposite seems to be the case. Many opponents of adult incarceration, for example, believe that it does non deter juvenile violence at all. This theory has is supported by several studies. Allard (2002), for example, found that adult correctional centers actually had a negative effect on juvenile delinquents. Compared to their counterparts who were retain in juvenile centers, transferred juvenile offenders released from adult correctional centers have been found to have a higher tendency for repeated criminal behavior. (Allard 2002) In the kindred study, recidivism was shown to be noticeably more significant among juvenile offenders who had been incarcerated in adult prisons. Such findings are diametrically opposed to the theory that adult punishment would endure to more potent rehabilitation for juvenile delinquents. This stand is further supported more recent work which revealed that the mental states of juveniles being sent to adult prisons did not significantly differ from those being sent to juvenile centers. This finding debunks the sentiment that juveniles sent to adult prisons are different from the regular juvenile delinquent, a ungovernable youth whose behavior already warrants harsher measures. Beyers (2006) study of 50 juvenile delinquents that he had encountered in the course of several years as a psychologist rejected the notion of harsh punishment as the catch-all solution for juvenile crime. His study, instead, forwarded the conclusion that while juveniles sent to adult prisons have almost negligible differences from those retained in juvenile centers, the juveniles which are produced at such prisons come out harder and more prone to recidivism. We may thus logically entertain the existence of a relationship betwixt incarceration type and recidivism or repeated criminal behavior. The truth of this statement would have weighty implications both on the juvenile criminal system as well as the legal policies that are currently being implemented in addressing juvenile violence and crime. Aside from asking ourselves whether harsher punishments are truly effective in curbing juvenile crime, we also encounter questions about alternative mechanisms. Grisso (1996), for one, points out the m anifest challenges being faced today in the field of juvenile justice. New ways to discourage juvenile delinquency must be adequately examined. More importantly, Grisso (1996) offers the position that harsher prison conditions for juvenile offenders through incarceration in adult correctional facilities may actually be doing more harm than good. Same sex marriage in the military Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Same sex conglutination in the military - Coursework idealSimply put, there is no right to same-sex man and wife, thus, homosexuals are not being denied their right. In fact, if one looks at the right of a child to be raised(a) by both biological parents, the right of a man to be ensured of paternity, and the right of a woman to be with her child (Stacey 27) one sees that, not legalizing same-sex marriage protects many natural rights. Those who argue that same-sex marriages should be accounted a civil right and should be treated just like any heterosexual monogamous marriage are doing so based on the principle of the Equal Protection Clause. This is, however, a flawed course. It is absolutely wrong to consider that ones fundamental rights ensure equal treatment in the area of marriage. One must chthonicstand with regard to equal treatment, the Constitution does not make reference to mixer relationships such as families, marriages, friendships, and the like (McVeigh and Maria -Elena 899). Two friends, who decide to consider their relationship a marriage, cannot go to the courts and demand equal protection rights just because they decided to consider their friendship a marriage. To do so is tantamount to saying that just because some heap at a certain sports event pray unneurotic before the start of the event courts are required under the equal protection law to allow these sports event goers to re posit the event as a religious ceremony. The government, as an example, recognizes a relationship between two contracting parties, one of whom agrees to mow the others lawn. However, the law governing the contracts does not define beforehand what kinds of contracts can be drawn. The law, instead, merely makes clear how binding a consensual contract is, and what legal obligations both agreeing parties have in fulfilling the contract. The law besides clarifies the consequences should one or both parties breach stipulations in the contract (Bily 33). The role o f the law is limited only to overseeing the relationship. It does not create the relationship. If applied in the argument of same-sex marriage, this means that, for several centuries already, marriage laws have considered marriage under the classification of a bond between a man and a woman that ordinarily leads to procreation (Bily 48). Same-sex relationships simply cannot fall under this category. The meaning of marriage gets completely redefined when two men marry each other and the same has become an divulge that has come to the limelight. Gay marriage is a serious threat and it challenges the nature too and this is because two men can never reproduce and take their generation forward. They can adopt a child but they can never fulfill the gap left, that gap can only be fulfilled by a mother. The divorce rates are extremely high when two men or women marry each other and research goes to prove it. straightaway divorces are much less than homosexual divorces and this is another reason why people oppose gay marriages. Gay marriages have also come under intense scrutiny with regard to the tradition that the world has been following for many years. When it comes to mental health, it has been found that Gays are much less healthier than normal people and this is because of their genetic makeup, their way of walking, the way they talk differs from normal people and they are different from normal people. It can therefore be concluded that same-sex relationsh

Business accounting - Essay ExampleMethodologies Used A preliminary literature study enables a look to get a feel of the topic to be covered (Goddard & Melville 2007 19). Thus, secondary research has been undertaken after the identification of the research topic and the specific industry to focus on. The investigator has utilised textbooks written by renowned experts in the field of accounting for the purpose of gathering information that would be confirmed or negated in the later get going of the research when the consultations with selected parties arouse been concluded and the results thereof have been orderly put together. After doing some secondary research, the particulars of the enterprise to be made subject of the research were next planned out. Finding the right enterprise was, indeed, a challenge that had to be dealt with. After all, managers or owners of business enterprises are usually the kind of commonwealth who are busy and are keen on never wasting their time on unimportant things. They also are likely to turn dispirited the proposition to have their enterprises covered in a research paper such as this, especially if they see that it offers them no personal or mercantile advantage. (Saunders, etc. 2007 5) Requests that interviews be granted were sent and upon obtaining such permission, the researcher next worked on composing the questions to be asked. It has been established that in the conduct of interviews, a researcher must keep in mind what it is like to be in the shoes of the subjects interviewed (Andrews 2003 1). Doing this would serve as an effective way to check on the character reference of questions asked and the manner in which they are asked. Only relevant questions must be asked and a polite manner must be consistently adopted passim the interview. These inputs from relevant sources have served to guide the researcher throughout the interviewing processes that had to be carried out as an integral part of this research. Int erview answers - which represent data gathered from primary quill sources - then had to be compared with the information gathered from the textbooks - which, in turn, represent data from secondary sources. Similarities and differences were processed to get to findings and to deliver the results of this research. Results The subject of the research is one of the small-sized diners of capital of the United Kingdom that is called Sunday Diners. She does the cash register, the cash disbursement register, the journal voucher, the general al-Quran and summarizes them all monthly through the generated financial statements - the balance sheet, the income statement and the statement of changes in cash position. As if she does not yet have her hands full, Miss Jones also takes care of the subsidiary ledgers for both the accounts receivable and accounts payable of the diner. It is a good thing that the bank reconciliation statement does not anymore have to get in the way of adjusted cash balances. This is

Deviance Behavior and the Possible Causes Essay Example for Free
Deviance Behavior and the Possible Causes EssaySome may say its biological or psychological and even sociological reasons. There have been many studies to try and determine why people have deviant behavior and what happens to individuals when norms are broken. Not whole behaviors are judged the same by all groups. For example, some may question if there are conditions under which suicide is an acceptable behavior. Lets same one psyche commits suicide in the face of a terminal illness but another soul is a despondent person who jumps from a window, the second person may be judged differently. The first persons suicide may be looked at with pity which the second person would be looked at in a shameful way. Another behavior that would highly be considered deviant would be committing a crime. For example, juvenile gangs provide an environment where young people determine to become criminals. Gang members glorify violence and retaliation as means to achieve social status. Whether it is an act of a crime or gang violence, criminals settle to be deviant as they embrace and conform to their street or gangs norms.Americans consider such activities as alcoholism, excessive gambling, being nude painting in public, starting fires, stealing, lying, prostitution, and being gay to name only a few as being deviant. Therefore people who engage in deviant behavior are referred to as deviants. References Richard T. Schaefer. (2012). Sociology A Brief Introduction (Tenth Edition). Crime and Rival Gang Member Essay Example for Free
Crime and Rival Gang Member EssayThe Outsiders tells a story rough two kids named greyback and Ponyboy who are in a gang called the Greasers. They live in a wrong doing world of gangs and fights. After knot protects Ponyboy by violent terminal a rival gang member named pier, the two boys run away. A young criminal named Dally helps them escape. After an incident with a burning perform Johnny dies and Dally dies soon after because of the trouble Johnnys death caused him. In the novel The Outsiders, S. E Hinton demonstrates that frenzy can lead to cypher more than emotional hardships, law-breaking, and death. The smallest act of crime can often lead to inner adversity. For instance, Johnnys parents would beat him and left him feeling safer in a gang or in a parking lot. Due to the parents hurting Johnny he was forced to live a life in a gang, a life of crime, and violence. Johnny felt as if no cared and that even if he lived in a gang his parents wouldnt do anything. Ano ther eccentric is when Darry hits Ponyboy for being late home and Ponyboy runs away.Darry wheeled around and slapped (Ponyboy) so hard that it knocked (him) against the door, that causes emotional tension that suck ups in the way of family. A small act of violence makes Ponyboy dash away from their home and create division between the two brothers. The final example is when Johnny dies and Ponyboy gets traumatized. The death of Johnny made Ponyboy so broken in that he altered and denied reality. Ponyboy was significant on Ponyboy he wasnt in the right mind for a while. Crime is frequently the result of an act of violence. The felony of Bob trying to kill Pony boy left Johnny having to kill him. They put you in the electric chair for killing people, and it is only because violence was committed. The crime of Bob trying to kill Ponyboy resulted in his death. The gangs fought and did many illegal things that made them always on the look out for cops. Just because people may not like each other doesnt mean crime need s to be committed. Most of the time crime is involved people get hurt. Lastly Dally robbed a grocery store and the cops ended up firing their weapons at him. When a misdeed happens it is either caused by violence or started with violence whether its the police or a gang. The felony Dally committed soon after cost him his life. One of the most cruel and harsh do of felony is the consequence of death. One example is that Johnny gets beaten up by Socs and the next time they try and harm him he kills Bob. The fear that the Socs would hurt him resorted to Johnny killing Bob. A kid with a pocketknife who is scared to get hurt can lead to a devastation effect.Secondly is when Johnny dies in the fire. The murder of Bob made Johnny run away and directed him into feeling like he had to risk his life to save the kids in the church. Because Johnny was guilty with murder it sadly lead to his death. In the end of it all he died because of his act of violence to B ob. Lastly the message repeats itself when Dally dies out of sorrow of Johnnys death. The death of one made Dally kill himself by pulling a gun on the cops. Johnnys death was the cause and end of Dallys.Violence is an action that can only end in pain and misery. Violence in todays club would lead to the collapse of a civilized world. As the world advances with protection and security, less hostility will be shown and the world will become a better place for future generations. With all the progress in technology we shall never expel violence itself. Although violence wont be destroyed, it is up to us to suppress or reduce death and acts of violence. The world needs to try and stop the terrible action from ever happening again.

Renewable Energy in India
re unfermentedable Energy in IndiaAs a developing country with the worlds second highest population, India is facing nationwide shortage in ply append. It is real essential to make optimum use of both available preferences of agent inside the nation and thus found that the untried and Re spick-and-spanable Sources of Energy (NRSE) fundament contribute monumentally towards power multiplication in forthcoming historic period. using of new engineering science and advancement in this firmament has call for to commercialization of numerous NRSE technologies. This sector has also got an advantage of reducing pollution and creating aw beness of the necessity to reduce carbon expellings to protect the environment. Recognizing the importance of renewable competency sources, the Government of India set up a fully fledged independent department named Department of Non-conventional Energy Sources in 1982 and later on the name reborn into the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the year 1992. MNRE acts as the nodal agency of the Government of India for all matters relating renewable cogency. It undertakes policy making, planning, promotion and co-ordination functions relating to all aspects of renewable vitality.New reports states that India is the fourth largest nation in installed power generation capacity in the field of renewable energy sources with a total capacity of 17,594 MW. Wind, solar, Hydro, Biomass and Geothermal argon master(prenominal) renewable energy sources and India has high emf of these preferences to exploit. world power generation from wind and solar energy resources has posted enormous increase in late years. India became favorite destination for renewable energy technology developers, equipment manufacturers and service providers. Certain measures are adopted by the Government of India for the eradication of power poverty, commercial exploitation of renewable energy resources by ensuring affordability and availabil ity as well. The estimated potential of renewable energy in the country is around 85,000 MW from commercially exploitable sources. Whereas wind resources accounts to 45,000 MW, small hydro projects dominates 15,000 MW and 25,000 MW from biomass/bio energy sources. It is calculated that India has the potential to generate 35 MW/Km2 with the use of solar photovoltaic and solar thermal energy. The main resources of renewable energy in India are as followsWind EnergySolar EnergyHydro situationBio-massGeothermal EnergyTidal energyWind Energy. With reference to the world wind energy report-2009, India has the fifth largest installed wind power capacity in the world following USA, China, Germany and Spain. India is the second largest wind energy market in Asia, with a growth rate of 14% reaching a capacity of 11 GW. India became a global player in wind energy sector in the past few years and expected to expand modest growth in the future with the wet domestic market. The idea of wind power in India developed in 1990s, and has achieved signifi lott and tremendous growth within the last two decades. The performance and reliability of wind related power increased the installation of more wind turbines crosswise the country and now it became a capacity addition of energy in Indian subcontinent. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Andaman Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep are the Indian states/union territories with high potential of wind energy utilization. At the end of March 2010, Tamil Nadu is having the most wind generating capacity of 4889.765 MW and Muppandal wind farm of Tamil Nadu is the largest in India.Suzlon holds 52% of domestic market ploughshare, is the largest wind power company in India. In addition to this Suzlon has risen to worlds 5th largest with 12.3% of the global market share. The Indian wind market achieved timbre growth with the government incentives and new policy of GBI (Generation Based Incentive) scheme that helped foreign and domestic private power producers and investors to establish large-scale, commercial wind plants across the country. Turbine technology is improving, that may contribute to higher capacity utilization of wind in future. The modern wind turbines produced in India with foreign collaboration hurt capacities more than 1 MW and they are highly efficient for a tropical country same(p) India. The country has an advantage in the installation of offshore wind plants with 7,600 km of coast. The invention of wind farm became popular with the higher efficiencies and availability due to the development of wind turbine technology over the last decade. Recent studies shows that wind energy can be combined with solar for the generation of self- sustainable renewable energy projects. The relative immaturity of this sector may not be sustainable with the strong economics of wind energy. India is renowned as wind superpower with an installed potential of 4500 MW from thirteen states.Solar EnergyIndia is blessed with rich solar energy resource due to its geographical location. It is calculated that the average intensity of solar radiation obtained on Indian subcontinent is 200 MW/km2 and this cadences to 657.4 Million Mega Watts of energy for the whole 3,287 million unbent kilometer. By considering these characteristics India can generate enormous amount of energy from this resource and it would be likely thousand times greater than the electricity demand in 2015 even with the theoretical assumption of 10% efficiency for photo voltaic modules. Considering these potentials the country is emerging as a strong hub for solar energy production. The amount of solar energy produced in India is very less when compared to other resources of energy and this accounts to merely 0.4%. As of October 2010 the grid-interactive solar power was some 114.74 MW. Report says that India is currently stratified number one along with the United States in ter ms of installed solar power generation capacity. The applications of solar energy is active in the fields of telecommunications, lighting, wet heating, battery charging, cooking and other small power requirements. nowadays there is around14-15 lakhs of solar photo voltaic systems in operation and around 6 lakhs solar cookers in use and an area of around 200,000M2 has been developed for solar water heating applications. The present scenario of installed capacity is around 33-35 grid interactive solar photovoltaic power plants with an aggregate capacity of around 2-2.5 MW, that generate around 2.5 million units of electricity per annum, in sharp contrast to the estimated potential of 50,000 MWSolar energy is a perfect alternative for conventional energy in the case of domestic and industrial applications, with an advantage of minimum maintenance and maximum viability. Government of India promoting the installation of new solar and other renewable energy projects by giving tax incen tives and rebates. The government of India proposed some large projects in solar energy sector, in cooperation with some private investors. Thar Desert in the state of Rajasthan has been set aside for solar power projects, sufficient to generate 700 to 2,100 Giga watts and it would be the next generation powerhouse of India. The ministry for new and renewable energy aims to bolster the annual photovoltaic production to at least 1,000 megawatts a year by 2017, as part of the discipline Solar Mission. It is estimated that the power generation capacity in India would have to increase to 306 GW in the next ten years in order to sustain an average growth rate around 10%. India unveiled a $19 billion plan, to produce 20 GW of solar power by 2020.Under the plan, solar-powered equipment and applications would be mandatory in all government buildings including hospitals and hotels. On November 18, 2009, it was reported that India was ready to launch its National Solar Mission under the natio nal action plan on humour change, with plans to generate 1,000 MW of power by 2013. Recent developments in technology made solar power as a sponge renewable zero emission resource harvested using a variety of modern devices. Developed countries like USA Australia are switching over to solar energy as their main source of energy production.3.3. HydropowerIndia was one of the pioneers in the establishment of hydro based electric power plants. Presently India ranks 5th worldwide in terms of exploitable hydro-potential and is also enriched with a large potential of hydro power, of which only around 20% has been utilized so far. It is the most abundant and widely used form of renewable energy in the Indian subcontinent. Electricity is generated in hydro power plants through the use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water. The hydro electricity is considered as a clean and renewable source of energy but it also have some bad effects in environment clearance due to the la rge pondage area. almost 21% of the electric power consumed in India is generated by hydro electric plants. As of November 2010, the installed hydro power capacity was around 37,400 MW. The public sector has a study(ip) share of 97% in this sector. It is clear from the information given by NHPC (National Hydro electric Power Cooperation) that Economically exploitable and viable hydro potential assessed to be about 84,000 MW at 60% load factor (1, 48,701 MW installed capacity). In addition, 6780 MW in terms of installed capacity from Small, Mini, and Micro Hydel schemes have been assessed. Also, 56 sites for pumped storage schemes with an aggregate installed capacity of 94,000 MW have been identified. Thus, in totality India is enriched with hydro-potential of about 2 50 000 MW.The hydro power project t in Darjeeling and Shivanasamudra was established in 1898 and 1902 respectively and was one of the first of that kind in Asia. The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) of Himacha l Pradesh is the largest hydro power plant in India, with an installed capacity of 1,530MW. It has been estimated that the potential for small hydropower schemes up to 25 MW are under Ministry of Non-Conventional Sources of energy capable of generating 15000 MW per annum.3.4. BiomassBiomass is defined as A renewable energy resource derived from the carbonaceous waste of assorted human and natural activities. This can be derived from a number of sources like agricultural/crops, raw material from the forest, household waste and even with the by-products from the timber labor. There is a sort of high potential of biomass energy available in the country at about 540 million tonnes/year covering resources such as agro residues, firewood, and other organic wastes. These kinds of resources are mainly utilized by the slew of villages and rural areas of the country. The potential to install 19500 MW capacities through biomass conservation technologies like combustion, gasification, incine ration and also bagasse has been rectified. This sector is in lack of technological advancement and proper utilization so that India could only tap around 380 MW capacities so far. There is a wide scope for the utilization of these resources for the benefit of rural population in the remote areas of India.India ranks second in the utilization of biomass based power generation with an ideal environment of water based vegetation as well as organic wastes. Today bio energy has became an essential add up to Indias energy mix with the favorable climatic conditions. As on October 2010, the cumulative installed capacity of grid-interactive biomass and bagasse cogeneration power was 2313.33 MW. Bio mass sector attracted an investment worth USD 120 million providing vast employment opportunities to village men and also generating an amount of 5,000 million units of electricity in every year. As per the notification in 11th plan period the Government of India plans to add as much as 1700 MW t hrough biomass and bagasse cogeneration in various states. Various promotional policies in the form of incentives, financial assistance, concessions and duty exemption are available for biomass power projects. In addition to these, SERC (State Electricity Regulatory Commission) IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency) provides capital subsidies and loans for the setting up of biomass based units. In present day scenario, biomass utilization for generation of energy has gained momentum due to the scarcity of the conventional energy resources as well as to prevent environment from GHG emissions. The development of efficient biomass handling technology, improvement and establishment of small and large-scale biomass-based power plants can play a major role in rural development. The orientation on green power marketing will leads to tremendous growth of the bio energy industry in the future.3.5. Geothermal energyAccording to the geological, geochemical, shallow geophysical and shallow drilling data, it is predicted that India has a great potential of geothermal power about 10600 MW. This can be economically harnessed for various purposes including industrial and domestic applications. India holds 15th rank in the utilization and applications of geothermal power when comparing to other leading(p) countries. India will need to depend more on renewable and eco-friendly energy sources in coming days due to the increasing environmental problems and cost with fogy fuel as well as nuclear based projects.Geothermal energy is the natural heat available inside the core of earth. This energy is accessed by drilling water or steam wells in a process similar to drilling for oil. Geothermal energy is an enormous, underused heat and power resource that is clean and reliable. Rocks covered on the surface of India ranging in age from more than 4500 million years to the present day and distributed in different geographical units. geologic survey of India has been identifi ed more than 300 hot spring locations suited for geothermal utilization.
